Secret Recipe Revealed - Holiday Meatballs
Here is a great recipe to take to a party that used to be included in every Smörgåsbord I attended growing up. My Aunt Martha's parents came to this country from Sweden, and the food her mother ("Tant Agnes") cooked for gatherings was out of this world. I was a favorite of Tant Agnes, and one of the reasons was I devoured the food she so lovingly cooked!
Holiday Meatballs (aka Swedish Meatballs)
Soak 2 cups croutons in 1 cup milk for about 5 minutes or until soft; beat well. Add 1-1/2 pounds ground beef and 1 tsp salt; combine thoroughly. Shape level Tbsp. of mixture into small balls; place in single layer in a shallow baking pan. Cover with two 10 ounce cans of mushroom or beef gravy. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Serve over cooked rice or noodles.
