The Villages Florida Area Real Estate: Secret Recipe Revealed - Fabulous Fudge

Secret Recipe Revealed - Fabulous Fudge

Secret Recipe Revealed - Fabulous Fudge

Here is another heavily requested recipe from I Still Prefer My Seed!my wife's kitchen.  My kids wish that she would make this more than once per year, but she wants to keep it special by being a December treat.  You can get a version of this recipe off the Marshmallow Fluff container ("Never Fail Fudge"), but this is the original which my wife and her brothers have been making since they were teenagers (a few years ago).

Marshmallow Fluff Fudge

5 cups sugar

Can of Evaporated Milk (about 13 ounces)

1/4 lb. butter

12 ounces Marshmallow Fluff

1 tsp. salt

Combine ingredients in heavy sauce pan; bring to boil while stirring constantly; slowly boil for 5 minutes stirring constantly.  (Be sure it is actually boiling before beginning the 5 minutes.)  You may get specks of carmalization as you cook this, but just keep stirring.

Remove from heat and immediately stir in

1 tsp. vanilla

24 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips

1 cup walnuts (optional)

Stir thoroughly.  Pour into two buttered 9 by 9 inch pans and cool on racks.

Make this a new family holiday tradition!

Chris, I used to make this all the time. You're right, the original recipe is the best!!

Chris, Sounds a lot like the fudge my mother used to make!  It is delicious!

Hi Than - If you like any fudge, you will love this fudge!

Hi Donna - Just take your time and be patient.  : )  This is not a recipe to rush or do when distracted.

Hi Connie - It is indeed.  Often the older recipes are the best.

Hi Tony and Darcy - Can't believe you haven't carried on the tradition!  If your mom's recipe called for fluff, this is probably it, and you should give it a try.  Enjoy!

Hi Chris! This fudge sounds delicious. I love family recipes - they are always the best! I am passing on some of my favorites to my daughter, in hopes that she will carry on with the favorite family dishes. Great photograph, also!

Hi Rose - Thanks so much!  My wife has a hand written recipe book (can you imagine?!), and she hopes to copy it (by hand) for our children.  Just the thought gives me writer's cramp!

Hi Kristin - Be careful giving as gifts; people will expect it EVERY year (just ask my wife!).

Hi Chris - I used to make this every year when my kids still lived at home.  Takes me back to some great memories.

Hi Pamela - Glad to bring back some memories.  Maybe you should whip up a batch for "old time's sake."

I know my kids and grandkids would love it if I made them some fudge.  This year I'm attempting authentic Mexican cookies like you get at the Panadaria in Mexico.  Having a hard time finding recipes but I haven't given up yet.  Enjoy a great day!

Hi Pamela - They sound great!  If you find the recipe, be sure to share it.

I found a recipe for Mexican Sweet Bread I'm going to try, Chris.  But no luck yet on the Mexican cookies.  The ones I find don't seem authentic.  Haven't given up yet, though.

I used to make this every year, and keep experimenting with new recipes; time to go back to the old standard :)

Hi Gwen - once you have found the best, why would you ever deviate?  Glad I reminded you that original is best.  : )
