The Villages Florida Area Real Estate: Birds of a Different Feather Flock Together

Birds of a Different Feather Flock Together

Birds of a Different Feather Flock Together

This morning was a busy time at the bird feeders in my yard--maybe (just maybe) because I had just restocked all of the feeders.  Thought you might enjoy a few that I spotted.  Remember to get out there and fill those feeders.  With all the migration going on right now, there are hungry birds just waiting to be enjoyed by you!

The little birds had better watch out for the hawk.  Likely he is eyeing them for dinner and not what's in the bird feeder.

I just love nuthatches.  We had a family of them move into a nesting box that we had on a tree just off the deck when we lived in Durango.  Can't wait to move back to Durango so we can enjoy them again!!

Hi Cindy - The little birds don't have much to worry about when it comes to the hawk--they are not even an appetizer.  It is the doves who have to watch their backs!

Hi Jeanne and Ralph - I have many favorites, so it is hard to pick just one.  The nuthatches are such a riot to watch when they walk around upside down and hang from the feeder to eat.

Chris - great photos.. I'll take a pass on the hawk... I've seen some dogs and cats that have been attacked.. so it's not just the doves that have to watch their backs!

Hi Chris, Thanks for the photos of the many birds at your feeders.  I do not mind seeing hawks at my feeders since they are in need of food.  Its the well fed cats that bother me.

All the best to you this season!

Hi Joan - I never thought of a cat or dog being threatened by a hawk!  I guess that is because my pets are all the wild ones on the Outside of my house.  : )

Hi Gloria - We had to deal with cats when we moved into our temporary rental - they were not friendly to our wild pets.  Once we eliminated the access to underneath the porch, they appear to have moved on (thank goodness).

Welcome back, Chris.  What wonderful picutres.  You always have such fun visitors.

Thanks for sharing your photographs.  It does look like a risky location for doves.

Enjoy the season of Thanksgiving and be sure to have your camera in hand to capture the special moments.

Chris, nice to see you back again!     You capture such great photos of very colorful birds!    I had a blue jay on my deck the other day, so colorful, but flew away before I could grab the camera!   The one that got away!

Hi Joan - Nice to be back (although it is nice to be so busy that I didn't have any time for blogging).  : )  I don't think that I have ever taken a picture of a blue jay--they are amazing birds, but I never think to photograph them!  Perhaps because I see too many of them.

Hello Chris:

Great photos.  Bird feeders attract a lot of wonderful wildlife.  Here in Texas we have to be careful since field mice feed on the dropped seeds and snakes feed on the field mice. Who knew?

Hi Brian - Your own miniature circle of life at the bird feeder!  Interesting.

Hi Chris,

Those are some great shots. I love them all but the woodpecker is spectacular and the hawk is grand. I think it always quite an honor when the hawk flies in and stays on one of your trees.

Hi Kristin, I feel pretty honored when the hawk shows up on our property, but somehow I do not think that the doves feel as I do.  Nice shot of your own!!

I love to watch the hawks flying around but I think that one has his eye on one of the birds at the feeder. I keep my feeder in a spot that has tree canopy over it to keep the hawks from diving in but every once in a while, I find a skeleton on the ground. It's the life cycle, I guess.

Great photos, Chris. You have the same variety we have.

Hi Toni - Well, I have the same variety in these particular birds.  I don't have pelicans on a stick, however!  : )  Have a great Thanksgiving!
