The Villages Florida Area Real Estate: Purple Martin Paradise

Purple Martin Paradise

Purple Martin Paradise

Yesterday after showing properties along the shoreline, I took a few minutes to enjoy the beautiful day that we have been patiently awaiting.  I stumbled across a paradise for Purple Martins at Hammonasett State Park's Meigs Point Nature Center . . . Should be a bad year for mosquitoes!

Chris,

I'm so glad you posted these amazing photos. I've seen so many purple martin houses but never any purple martin birds! Thank you for doing this and I'm lucky I got to see it for the very first time!

They must be so entertaining to watch! What a show they put on for you and you captured the moments just swell!

You did a great job!

Nice of someone to provide a condominium tower forthose birds. Our purple martins have to survive on the ground eating scraps from tourists.

Chris, how fun to be able to watch these birds!      I have never seen a purple martin, you are very fortunate!   Have a great Holiday weekend!

That is really quite the bird house.  More like a multi-unit condo!

Hi Rob - I hope you do post some to those photos.  I like any bird that feasts on mosquitoes!

Hi Patricia - These birds were determined to put on a show.  You should have heard the noise coming from the houses.  Hungry young ones!

Hi Eric - It is great that Friends of Meigs Point Nature Center pay for this wonderful condominium complex for the purple martins--Meigs Point never could have gotten funding from the state for this project!

Hi Joan - I have never had this kind of experience with Purple Martins.  It was quite a sight to see.

Hi Michael - Did you notice the "room numbers"?  : )

Hi Roy - Not only is it a great unit in which to live, but the view is pretty cool too (Long Island Sound).

Hi Erica - I hope the birds in my yard don't see this post . . . They will ask for better digs!

Hi Ann - Anything that annihilates mosquitoes is a friend of mine!
