Hidden Benefits of Staging Your Home
We all know that biggest benefits of staging your home for sale--you get more interest and hopefully sell faster for more than you otherwise might. Good enough reasons to stage! But there are added benefits of staging your home.
As you declutter your home, you think about whether you should pack each item for storage or if you should just get rid of it. As you get into the decluttering mode, you start to detach yourself from these items, and get rid of more. You may even find an item that you have been trying to locate for years!
As you rethink certain paint colors and perhaps rid the home of "transferee beige," you gather decorating ideas for your next home. You find the colors that you really like, and perhaps weed out one or two that might look great for staging but are not really "you" for the next home.
When you pick up a few items to stage a room (pillows or knick-knacks--because you packed everything in your "decluttering stage"), you can think about what you will do with these items in your new home. If you have to buy new bedding to update your 1980s decor, you may find that you like the new bedding so much that you decide to throw out (or give away) your old comforters.
The furniture that needs to be put in storage may not quite make it that far because you realize you really don't need it anyway, so you stop off at Goodwill and give them something more to sell that someone else might be delighted to purchase.
When you stand back and look around your freshly staged home, you discover that you will have so much less work to do once you have gone under contract, because there really isn't all that much left to pack up anymore.
So when you look at the daunting task of getting your home ready for sale by staging, just think of all the hidden benefits! It may not make it easier, but hopefully it will make it more satisfying.
Staging its people excited and will take the potential buyer to the next step
Hello Chris:
It's late Saturday night, why are we both still posting bogs? Good post,
Hi Stan - That is what we certainly hope to accomplish!
Hi Brian - Thanks. It was a long day of showings, and I had writer's block. : )
Your post reminded me of all the missing things we found when we were getting our home on Capitol Hill ready for the market and staging it for 5 star reviews so we could begin our Santa Fe lifestyle. There are lots of hidden benefits to moving forward and staging is step one. (Suggested).
wonderful advice.. For that matter, it is good advice even when your home isn't listed.. :)
Yes, there are a lot of benefits to ths and it can make the final packing process much faster and easier.
Good Sunday morning, Chris. Thanks for your home seller tips. I will post this on my Facebook page. We are having a rainy weekend in Maryland.
Chris, it is so funny when sellers turn to me and say they should have done it sooner, LOL. Yes indeed, there are many hidden benefits of staging your home to sell!
Great post - I hope many, many sellers read it. For the rest of us we can use it to share. Thank you.
Chris, I agree that staging has many hidden benefits. It presents a great opportunity to get rid of all things we never use. It is a liberating feeling when you throw out or give away all those useless objects that clutter your life and take time away from truly important things in your life. Your post deserves to be read by everyone - I'm suggesting it.
Chris, great post, as many sellers need to be reminded, if they ARE moving, it is much better to de-clutter and show the home without so much personal touch. The basics are all you need!
Hi Emily - You also find things you didn't know you were missing. : ) Thanks for the suggest!
Hi Sheila - Very true, but there is much more motivation when you are preparing to market your home.
Hi Debbie - Yes, that final move will be much easier!
Hi Roy - Thanks for posting this on your Facebook! It was a rainy Sunday in Connecticut--I got quite wet with all the showings I had today!
Hi Andrea - It is a liberating experience, really! By the time you are through, you want to open some of those first boxes and go through them again as you have by then learned to say "I really don't need to pack this--I'll give it to Goodwill!"
Hi Joy - Thanks very much! I have learned this first hand myself.
Hi Elizabeth - It does feel SOOO good to declutter your life! Thanks for suggesting this post.
Hi Joan - I think that many people find that the basics are all they need in their new home, too.
