The Villages Florida Area Real Estate: There is Something Ironic about the First Flowers to Bloom in My Garden!

There is Something Ironic about the First Flowers to Bloom in My Garden!

After struggling through a winter with record snowfalls, I have been longing for the first signs of life in my gardens!  I have a few plants pushing up through the ground . . .

Not Sure what These Are Yet

But the first flowers to actually bloom are [drum roll]

SNOW DROPS.  Sigh . . . I am just glad that something finally did!

Hi Chuck - Yes, I guess Minnesota would still have a bit of snow.  My yard lost its last bit about two days ago.

Hi Michelle - You have not idea how happy I am!!

Chris, It is such a great thing to see those flowers waking up and reaching for the warmer sun!  Fun to watch!  Love the drum roll!  Glad to hear the snow has finally melted.

Hi Gloria - we can only HOPE that the snow will now stay away.  With the Washington DC area getting snow today, who knows when this will end!?

Chris,

I love the drum roll too...  very cool.  Snow Drops, I don't know those flowers, I don't think I have seen them before, but I really like the looks of them!  It's great to see the green stuff, isn't it?  We are sure getting close to that warm weather and turning the heater down in the house!  I have enjoyed seeing your indoor plants though!!!  We will hopefully be posting lots of photos from our gardens very soon!

Hi Chris, It is really cute watching all of you welcome the first signs of Spring. Our changes out here are more subtle but we also  welcome the new color palette. I was counting my Stephanotis seedlings today ( 16 ) that will be getting transplanted soon. It takes 3 years to get from the seedlings to the wood stock needed before blooming but the mother plant is lush and already throwing out her new shoots that will have a profusion of bloom clusters. After 5 years of trying I was able to propagate her seed and I have promised a few of them to some of my clients and neighbors when they are ready.

Chris - Spring is coming, but it never seems to come fast enough for me.

Hi Chris,

I know you have got to be feeling what we are here in PA, the weather looks just plain beautiful until you step outside and find it downright raw in temperature.  Can't wait for spring, can't wait for spring...

Chris, I love those snow drops. Of all the Spring flowers, they are the fearless little fighters that are willing to stick out their heads first to make sure it's ok for the others to come out!  :-)

Hi All, Thanks so much for your comments--it's been a crazy week, but at least the snow that was supposed to come last night did not!!  Hopefully Spring will be here this month!

Snow drops and hyacinths are so dainty in appearance but tough when it comes to handling the cold!

Hi Maria - They had better be good at handling the cold--it hasn't warmed up too much around here!

Hi Roy - I am watching for colorful flowers, too . . . and watching, and watching . . .
