Friday Fotos - Certain Places are Even Beautiful in the Rain

Okay, I will admit that I am not a big fan of rain, but today I am thankful that we are having rain and not snow (or we would be facing another 2+ feet of that white stuff).  However, when I am on vacation, I really don't want to see rain.  But sometimes you get what you don't want, and it turns out to be beautiful.  Here are some examples from a vacation in Denmark . . .

Wonderful saturated color in these images thanks to the rain. It is always interesting to see what homes look like outside the USA. Thank you!

Chris, looks like you are having a great vacation and making the most of a little rain!  Great shot.

The rain really brings out highlights in the cobblestones. Love the close-up of the rose. Nice pics, Chris!

Hi Chris,  Some wonderful photos and the colors are greatly enhanced by the rain. The homes in Denmark are certainly colorful. Been a lot years since I was there and come to think of it, it was raining the whole time I was there.  We have a Danish Community here in CA, called Solvang and they used a lot of colors as well. Heck, even their pastries are colorful.

Chris--I think rain makes colors brighter and everything looks clean and fresh.  I have never been to Denmark but you photos captured exactly what I might picture it to be.  Very nice shots!

Nice.  The rainy skies actually make for pretty good lighting.  Nice looking homes.  I bet you had a good vacation.

Yes, these do look beautiful in the rain.  And, couldn't agree w/ you more...yesterday I was in a midscale restaurant.  As the host brought people in he kept commenting on the weather and he was sure they were glad to be inside.

All of them said the same thing..."at least it's not snow, so this isn't so bad."

Hi Chris,

Simply beautiful photos.  The rain just can't dampen the beauty of some things.  I had a recent blog with a pic of the Statue of Liberty taken on a rainy day - still a beautiful sight.

Chris, it's good that a little rain did not stop you from enjoying your vacation!  In fact, it added a whole new perspective.

Hi Karin - The rain gives it a mystical look!

Hi Emily - Most of Denmark was absolutely beautiful!

Hi Patricia - This is from "vacations of the past."  Haven't actually had a vacation in a while, so I have to relive them through photos!

Hi John - I agree--the cobblestones look so cool!

Hi William - We also visited Sweden and Norway and had the most amazing weather.  This was the only rainy day during the two-week vacation!  All three countries use really cool colors for their buildings.

Hi Linda - Not there now . . . it would be a bit colder than these pictures that were taken in August (of 2005 actually!).

Hi Pat - Yes, these colors are brighter in the rain.  The colors in Connecticut right now . . . not so much.  : )

Hi Georgina - We had a wonderful time!  As good as the vacation we took in Hawaii three years after this one (when the second child graduated from high school).  We gave the kids the choice of where they wanted to go as their graduation gift (one we could ALL enjoy).

Hi Joshua - I thought the same; I actually looked closely to make sure it wasn't a photo of a photo!  : )

Hi Roy - I hope you hovered over the last photo (the rose with raindrops) to see what its title is!!

Hi Debbie - We have to be thankful for small favors!

Hi Lisa - Sometimes when I have to photograph a house on a rainy day for my listings, rain makes it work quite well (though I get wet).

Hi Silvia - One day in a 15 day trip was okay when I looked back at it.  : )

Great pictures Chris. It rained the entire time I visited Denmark too. These pictures really do capture the simplicity.

Hi Ellie - We stayed for three days, so only one was a washout!  We got to experience Tivoli Gardens in the sunshine and also Odense.  The rainy day was spent in Helsingør.

Nice pictures. The houses look well maintained even though they're obviously older.

Hi Dave - Older than we can even imagine here in the United States!

Great photo's Chris, I am always interested in the architecture of other places, countries due it custom, environment, and available product.

Hi David - Custom certainly dictates brighter colors in Denmark!
