The Villages Florida Area Real Estate: Have you Ever Seen a Glacier Melt?

Have you Ever Seen a Glacier Melt?

Have you Ever Seen a Glacier Melt?

No, I am not talking about the snow in my yard--although many folks in Connecticut are wondering what will happen when we finally do get this white stuff to melt!  I was looking through some photos for a reply to another blogger from a trip that involved a Lego display, and I came across these pictures.  Hopefully this will not happen in Connecticut!

Waterfall from a Glacier

Here is the offending Glacier that was melting . . .

Hi Chris - Unfortunately, the Glaciers in Glacier National Park are doing just that. I vacationed there by myself one year and loved hiking up to and out on the glacier that could be reached in a few hours from the Many Glaciers Hotel.  We boated across two lakes, hiked in between, and finally climbed to the glacier.  It was gorgeous and exciting as the guide let us take a bite of ice from thousands of years ago.  I went back with my husband a few years later and the glacier was tiny and no one was allowed to walk out on it because it was too unstable.  Sad!

Chris, with the forecast we have from Friday through Monday we'll get a chance to feel a little of what a glacier melt is like. Rain and warm temps is the equation for a mess

Hi Susan - That is very sad.  This was just a summer melt-off that I photographed.

Hi Ed - I have to say that I am glad that I am at the TOP of the hill.  : )

I can just imagine the noise all of that water produced!

Hi Chris - How true!  I should have made a video instead of just snapping photos!  Next time . . .

Wow.  Cool pictures.  I like Chris Alston's comment.  Nature is amazing.

I guess it will be bye, bye Connecticut if that happens, Chris. Well, it was nice reading your posts ;)

Hi Debbie - Thanks!

Hi Toni - Very funny.  We are supposed to have warmer temperatures (40+!) for the next few days and quite a bit of rain.  Should be interesting.

Awesome - you can practically feel and hear the roar of that water rushing down!

Hi Roy - Thanks!  Coming from you, that compliment means all the more!  Lots of rain here today, but hopefully no waterfalls like a glacier melting!
